Magdalena Olbryt, Ph.D. - research assistant


Magdalena Olbryt graduated in 2001 from the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection, University of Silesia in Katowice. As a participant of Socrates/Erasmus program she spent one year at the Aarhus University (Denmark) where she completed a molecular biology course and practice at the Laboratory of Gene Expression headed by Professor Jens Stougaard. Since 2001 she has worked at the Research Department of the Maria Skłodowska-Curie Memorial Cancer Center and Institute of Oncology in Gliwice. In 2010 she has defended her Ph.D thesis entitled “Gene expression priofile induced by hypoxia in B16-F10 murine melanoma cells” (supervisor: Professor Zdzisław Krawczyk; reviewers: Professor Janusz Siedlecki and Professor Ryszard Oliński). Currently, as a research assistant she has been involved in projects concerning various fields of cancer molecular biology including melanoma and hypoxia. She is the author or co-author of 11 original and review papers (IF approx. 49). She also participates in the National Program of Cancer Prevention by giving lectures on cancer biology and primary prevention.
